COLT
MODEL 1877 "THUNDERER"

The Colt Model 1877 "Thunderer"--was Colt's first attempts at producing a double action revolver. It was manufactured from 1877 through 1909 with the total production, for both variations, at about 166,845 (under serial number 111500 approx. made before 31 December 1898). Standard caliber for the Thunderer was .41 Colt with a six shot cylinder and barrel lengths of two and a half inches and three and a half inches without an ejector rod, and four and a half inches and six inches with an ejector rod. This pistol has a four inch barrel (it is reported that none of these pistols was manufactured with an ejector rod and less than four and a half inches of barrel, still this one looks factory), it is blued, the hard rubber grips (standard). This "Model" was rumored to have been the prefered carry revolver of John Wesley Hardin.
